New Dream Job “Employment Agency” Launched
The Geeks received an interesting “heads-up” email today about a new “employment agency” that opened their virtual doors on Tuesday. The employment agency is dedicated to helping men find their dream jobs.
The “job interview” process consists of submitting a video either online or in person that shows why you are unique and what your quirky personal qualifications are for a job. There will be six dream jobs including a model scout, exotic car tester and a video game reviewer.
In addition to the virtual office, the Dream Job Mobile Office will go on a 54-day tour around the country. We’re checking in for more details and will let you know when we receive the web site for the “agency” and which cities will be in their 54-day tour.
Steve Snow - Database, SQL Applications Programmer
Our latest geek has over 20 years of experience as a Database & Software Application developer, including experience with well-known ‘troublemaker’ buzzwords like VB, ActiveX, SOAP, XML, ADO, DAO, ODBC and of course Windows 95.
But that’s not the full list, so please let us know if you’d like to speak with this gentleman. Incidentally, he’s available for full or part-time employment or even as a contractor.
Wordpress Theme Artist Needed
The Geeks are looking for a contract Wordpress Theme Artist (we prefer Artists to Designers because it sounds more important) to perform some facelifts on several of our web properties. The Geeks had a Wordpress Theme Artist lined up to do some theme work for us, but they unfortunately fell through so we’re looking for a new Wordpress Theme Artist. Yeah, we can do the work ourselves (we’re Geeks after all), but we simply do not have time necessary for us to spend designing then implementing our design into a theme and perhaps making suggestions to improve our vision.
We’re looking for someone that probably is a web designer during the day and designs a little on the side to perhaps buy some extra gadgets or something. So, do you think you have the stuff to create kick-ass themes for several of our blogs using our specs?
If you think so, send us an email with links to some sites you’ve done. We’re looking for a three column layout similar to how our Geekfoolery site is setup, so send us some pricing information according to that.
Geek Bloggers and Interns Wanted
The Geeks need help expanding our “For Geeks Network”. We are in need of bloggers looking for revenue sharing opportunities as well as interns looking for media experience, industry contacts and have a passion for all things technology related.
If you are interested, send in a two or three paragraph introduction and description of the type of blog you are interested in, and why you’d like to join the Geek crew. Also, if you have articles or blog entries related to our “Geek” theme, send us a sample or two.
We will work with bloggers to create an appropriate “For Geek Network” site giving you an unfiltered voice (minus the F-bombs!). The Geeks bring cross promotional traffic from our other sites in our network to the table as well as revenue sharing.
Interns will be featured on our list of blogs by being able to write and post their own articles. Ideal skills include: research, writing, proofreading, PR, finding breaking news, quirky tech info, and getting us mentioned on all the blogs and websites possible. Sound like experience you want? Sound like you? Come join us!
Security Geek looking for consulting work
The Geeks (from Gizmos for Geeks) know a Security Geek that is looking for consulting work preferably around the Atlanta area. I can personally vouch for this guy because at one time I brought him in as an Information Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a contract with the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). During this contract I was able to work closely with him and… “dude knows security”! I’ve also attended security conferences with him and know of his work through other colleagues that honestly have nothing but high praise for this guy.
This Security Geek wants to perform high quality and very thorough security audits as well as consult on all matters of information security. Unfortunately, he will find a hole in your security defenses… the good news is that he will tell you how to fix the vulnerability so it will not be exploited from “evil doers”.
Because the featured Security Geek works in a high level position for one of the largest financial companies in the world, he asked not to include his name or too much about his current work. If interested in having the mysterious Security Geek perform a security audit or consult on security matters, click on the Hire Me link below and we will pass on your information to him.
